The Role

This role supports the building of a strong corporate profile by improving our standing with key governmental stakeholders. These stakeholders include various local, state, national and regional governments (politicians & bureaucrats), other companies in our industry, industry associations, opinion makers, and NGO?s. The incumbent will work closely with in-house Government Affairs resources throughout the region to establish and strengthen the company?s relationships with key government policy makers. This team will prepare and execute stakeholder engagement plans for each area of the company?s operations and for new growth areas You will be responsible for strengthening relationships with key government policy makers.

The Government Affairs Manager is responsible for managing milestones on government approvals through effective relationship management with government and regulatory bodies; for collaborating with various functional teams internally (Public Affairs, Legal, Public Policy, Government Markets and business development); and working with subsidiaries, JV partners and other project management efforts. They also will serve as one of the Company?s top advocates among both country and regional governments and industry associations.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly grasp energy and environmental issues facing the firm and the industries in which the organisation operates. You will have a thorough understanding of the legislative and regulatory processes. The successful Government Affairs Manager will have experience developing and implementing a government affairs strategy, as well as a proven record of success working on public policy issues and establishing effective relationships with key relevant stakeholders.
